UPSSSC Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Exam 2026 – Apply Online
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow, has officially released the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination (PET-2025)/24 notification for 1156 vacancies across various departments. Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and hold a valid PET score card are eligible to apply online from 03 November 2026 to 25 November 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSSSC JE Mechanical Main Exam 2026
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, or an equivalent diploma recognized by the Government. For the posts of Assistant Store Keeper and Mechanic under UPSRTC, a Diploma in Automobile/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Polytechnic is required. For Instructor Machine, candidates need an Intermediate pass certificate along with a 3-year diploma in a mechanical maintenance trade. Candidates must also have appeared in PET-2025 and hold a valid PET score card.
Age Limit (As on 01-07-2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years (21 Years for Technical Assistant and Assistant District Panchayat Raj Officer posts)
- Maximum Age: 40 Years
- Age relaxation applicable to SC/ST/OBC/EWS, PwD, Ex-servicemen and other eligible categories as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules
UPSSSC JE Mechanical Salary Structure 2026
Selected candidates will be placed in the following 7th CPC Pay Matrix Levels depending on the post and department:
- Level-6: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 (Junior Engineer/Technical Assistant/Instructor Machine posts)
- Level-5: ₹5,200 – ₹20,200 (Mechanic, UPSRTC)
- Level-4: ₹5,200 – ₹20,200 (Assistant Store Keeper, UPSRTC)
- Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances as admissible
Selection Process for UPSSSC JE Mechanical Main Exam 2026
Selection will be made purely on the basis of the Written Main Examination. Only candidates shortlisted on the basis of their normalized PET-2025 score are eligible to appear in the Main Examination.
Scheme of Examination and Syllabus
The written examination will consist of a single objective-type paper of 100 questions carrying 100 marks, to be completed in 2 hours (120 minutes). Each wrong answer attracts a negative marking of 25% (¼ mark) of the marks assigned to that question.
