WBPSC Sub Surveyor Vacancy Details 2026

• Reservation of vacancies is shown as reported by the department. The unreserved (general) figure is not separately listed in the notification.
• MSP means Meritorious Sportsperson. Ex-SM means Ex-Serviceman.
• Benefits of reservation for all reserved categories, except PwBD, MSP and Ex-Servicemen, are available only to candidates of West Bengal. SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates of other states can apply for unreserved vacancies as General candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for WBPSC Sub Surveyor Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

Nationality and Language

• Indian citizens and other nationals declared eligible by the Government of India can apply.
• Ability to read, write and speak Bengali is an essential requirement. It is not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali, unless specifically mentioned. Candidates performing poorly in the Bengali test may be cancelled.
• All qualifications must be obtained by the closing date of online applications.

Age Limit (As on 01-01-2024, as stated in the notification)

• Minimum age: 21 years. Maximum age: 45 years. Age is taken only from the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate.
• SC / ST (West Bengal): 5 years relaxation in upper age limit.
• OBC Non-Creamy Layer (West Bengal): 3 years relaxation in upper age limit.
• Persons with Disabilities (40% and above): age limit up to 45 years, as stated in the notification.
• Ex-Servicemen with at least 6 months continuous service: the service period is deducted from actual age; if the resulting age does not exceed the maximum limit by more than 3 years, the age condition is met.
• No relaxation is given to SC / ST / OBC candidates of other states, as they are treated as General candidates.

WBPSC Sub Surveyor Salary Structure 2026

Selected candidates will be paid Level-7 (₹24,700 – ₹63,900) as per the West Bengal Services (Revision of Pay and Allowances) Rules, 2019. The post also carries allowances as admissible.

Selection Process for WBPSC Sub Surveyor 2026

1. Paper-I (Bengali / Nepali): qualifying paper. Candidates must score at least 30% of the marks of Paper-I.
2. Paper-II (English, Elementary Mathematics, Survey Engineering): marks of Paper-II are counted only for candidates who attain the qualifying marks in Paper-I.
3. The final merit list is prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II.
4. If two or more candidates score equal marks in Paper-II, the senior candidate by date of birth gets preference.

• The Commission may fix the qualifying marks for Paper-II at its discretion.
• Marks are captured electronically from scanned OMR sheets without manual intervention.
• After display of model answers on the Commission's website, objections must be filed within the given time limit.

WBPSC Sub Surveyor Exam Scheme and Syllabus 2026

• Negative marking: 0.25 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-II (MCQ).
• Paper-I syllabus: Letter writing, drafting a report and grammar (Bengali / Nepali) at Madhyamik or equivalent standard.
• Paper-II English: Vocabulary, grammar, composition, synonyms, antonyms and correction of sentence structure.
• Paper-II Elementary Mathematics: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and mensuration at Madhyamik or equivalent standard.
• Paper-II Survey Engineering: As per Diploma examination standard.
• Candidates must carry the admit card printout and the same original Photo ID mentioned in the application (Madhyamik certificate with photograph, Passport, PAN, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Aadhaar or any State / Central Government ID).
• Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smart watches and other communication devices are not allowed inside the exam premises.
• PwBD candidates with limitation in writing can use a scribe and get 20 minutes compensatory time per hour, with the Appendix-I certificate from the Chief Medical Officer / Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution. Scribe must be arranged by the candidate and should be one step below the candidate's qualification.

WBPSC Sub Surveyor Application Fee 2026

• Fee must be paid online only, on or before 09 November 2026 (up to 3:00 PM).
• OBC candidates must pay the usual fee. SC / ST candidates of other states get no exemption.
• Fee is not refunded and cannot be kept in reserve for any other examination.

How to Apply for WBPSC Sub Surveyor Recruitment 2026?

1. Visit the official website of the Commission: psc.wb.gov.in.
2. Open the online application link for the Sub-Surveyor post under Advertisement No. 22/2024.
3. Fill in the application form carefully and mention one valid Photo ID with its number and issuing authority.
4. Pay the fee online (if applicable) and submit the form on or before 09 November 2026, 3:00 PM.
5. Take a printout of the submitted form and check all details.
6. If a correction is needed, use the one-time Edit Window from 11 November 2026 to 16 November 2026 by logging in to your account.

• Only one application per candidate is allowed. Multiple applications lead to cancellation.
• A submitted application is final. Changes in category claims are not allowed after final submission.
• Candidates claiming EWS, SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), Ex-Servicemen, MSP or disability (40% and above) must hold a valid certificate from a competent authority of West Bengal, obtained within the closing date. OBC and EWS candidates must submit renewed / revalidated certificates before the exam and at appointment.
• Candidates must hold the essential qualifications by the closing date of online applications.
