RRB Junior Engineer (JE) & Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online (CEN 04/2026)
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 04/2026 inviting online applications for 3,993 vacancies of Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) across various Railway zones and production units. Candidates with a three-year Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant Engineering discipline can apply online from 14 August 2026 to 13 September 2026.

Of the total vacancies, 387 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen and 193 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) under horizontal reservation. Vacancies are further distributed across 37 post categories (such as JE Electrical, JE Civil, JE Mechanical, JE Signal & Telecom and DMS) and multiple RRBs and Railway zones/production units; the complete RRB-wise and zone-wise break-up is available in Annexure B of the official notification.
Eligibility Criteria for RRB JE & DMS Recruitment 2026
Educational Qualification
For most Junior Engineer posts, candidates need a three-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Computer Science and allied disciplines, depending on the post) or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognised University or Institute. For the post of Depot Material Superintendent, a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline is required. Higher qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech are accepted in place of a three-year diploma in the same discipline. Candidates must hold the qualification on or before the closing date; those awaiting final results are not eligible.
Age Limit (As on 01-01-2027)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 33 Years
- Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL, up to 15 years for PwBD, and additional relaxation for Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories as per rules
RRB JE & DMS Salary Structure 2026
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month.

Selection Process for RRB JE & DMS 2026
- 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I) – Screening test
- 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II) – Merit-based shortlisting
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination (ME)
Shortlisting for CBT-II is based on normalised marks in CBT-I, at 15 times the community-wise vacancies per RRB. Document Verification candidates are shortlisted purely on CBT-II merit, equal to the number of vacancies.

There is negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer in both stages. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR/EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL/SC and 25% for ST, with relaxation for PwBD candidates. The detailed trade-wise technical syllabus for Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical & Allied Engineering groups is given in Annexures VIII (A) to (D) of the official notification. Extended time and duration are provided to candidates eligible for scribe assistance.

Fee payment is accepted online only, through internet banking, debit/credit cards or UPI, and must be completed by 15 September 2026. Refunds are credited only to an Aadhaar-seeded bank account after the candidate appears for CBT-I.
