IOB Security Guard Vacancy Details 2026

The vacancies are reserved exclusively for Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveers, excluding Disabled Ex-Servicemen. The notification states that the vacancy figures are provisional and may vary according to the Bank's actual requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for IOB Security Guard Recruitment 2026

Nationality / Citizenship

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, an eligible Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or an eligible person of Indian origin who migrated from the countries specified in the notification with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates under the specified non-Indian categories must possess the required Government of India certificate of eligibility.

Age Limit

The candidate must be an Ex-Serviceman/Ex-Agniveer from the Army, Navy or Air Force. Persons with Disabilities, Disabled Ex-Servicemen and dependants of servicemen killed in action are not eligible. Candidates seeking reservation or age relaxation must produce the required certificates.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10Th standard or its equivalent, but should not have passed Graduation or an equivalent examination. The candidate must also be able to speak, read and write Tamil.

Eligible matriculate Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the specified civil examination qualification may be considered if they hold the prescribed Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding Navy/Air Force certificate after completing at least 15 years of service, subject to the notification conditions.

Other Eligibility Requirements

• Character should be EXEMPLARY at valid discharge from the Armed Forces.
• Required educational results must have been declared by the applicable cut-off date.
• Medical standard should be minimum SHAPE-1 or AYE, whichever applies, at valid discharge.
• Candidates must be willing to work in shifts, including night shifts.
• Selected candidates may be posted at any Branch/Office of the Bank at the Bank's discretion.

IOB Security Guard Job Profile 2026

• Guard Bank premises and departments against attack, assault, infiltration and unauthorized removal of Bank property.
• Watch and safeguard movement of Bank property inside or outside the Bank.
• Operate electronic alarms, CCTV, access control systems, X-Ray machines, DFMD and HHMD.
• Maintain and operate fire alarm and fire-fighting equipment.
• Work in shifts, including night shifts.
• Perform other routine subordinate-cadre duties assigned by Management.

IOB Security Guard Salary Structure 2026

The notified scale is ₹19,500-665/4-22,160-830/5-26,310-990/4-30,270-1,170/3-33,780-1,345/3-37,815. Basic pay will be fixed based on the candidate's last drawn defence-service salary, with additional emoluments under the applicable settlement and Bank rules.

IOB Security Guard Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2026

Online Objective Type Test

Local Language Test

The Local Language Test assesses knowledge of Tamil and carries a maximum of 20 marks. The Bank will decide cut-off scores according to candidate performance and vacancies and may modify the test structure through its website.

Physical Fitness Test

Physical Fitness Scoring

• Push-Ups: 30+ = 30 marks; 21–29 = 25; 15–20 = 20; 14 or below = Fail.
• Sit-Ups: 30+ = 30 marks; 21–29 = 25; 15–20 = 20; 14 or below = Fail.
• 1 Kilometre Run: under 4 minutes = 30; 4–5 minutes = 20; 5–6 minutes = 10; over 6 minutes = Fail.
• Drill: Word of command, Saavdhan/Vishram, Dahine Mur/Baen Mur and saluting are assessed at 2.5 marks each.

Candidates must pass each of the four physical tests with the prescribed minimum score. The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted at Chennai. Candidates get only one attempt in each test.

Medical Fitness Before Physical Test

Eligible candidates must undergo medical fitness examination before the Physical Fitness Test and submit a medical fitness certificate from a medical practitioner with registration number not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon. The certificate must not be older than 15 days on the date of the Physical Test.
