    UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027 – Apply Online

    Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2027

    Educational Qualification

    The required qualification depends on the stream. Geologist posts require a relevant Master's degree such as Geological Science, Geology, Applied Geology, Geo-Exploration, Mineral Exploration, Engineering Geology, Marine Geology, Earth Science and Resource Management, Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies, Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry. Geophysics posts require specified Master's qualifications in Physics, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics and related disciplines. Chemist posts require specified Master's qualifications in Chemistry or related chemistry disciplines. Hydrogeology posts require a Master's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Marine Geology or Hydrogeology. The notice also provides conditions for certain integrated and related Master's qualifications.

    Candidates whose qualifying examination result is pending may be admitted provisionally subject to the conditions and document-submission requirements stated in the notice. Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed physical standards.

    Age Limit

    • Minimum Age: 21 Years
    • Maximum Age: 32 Years
    • Age is calculated as on 01 January 2027.
    • Date of birth must fall between 02 January 1995 and 01 January 2006.
    • Applicable relaxation is provided for eligible categories including SC/ST, OBC, specified Government servants, Ex-Servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs, eligible Defence personnel and PwBD candidates, subject to the notice.

    • Geology/Hydrogeology: Physical and structural geology, mineralogy, petrology, sedimentology, paleontology, stratigraphy, mineral deposits and exploration, fuel and engineering geology, environmental geology, natural hazards, groundwater occurrence, movement, wells, exploration, quality and management.
    • Geophysics: Solid Earth geophysics, gravity, geomagnetism, seismology, signal processing, remote sensing, geohydrology, solid-state physics, electronics, lasers and related prescribed subjects.
    • Chemistry: Prescribed physical, inorganic, analytical and organic chemistry, including thermodynamics, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, chromatography, analytical methods and organic reaction mechanisms.

    Registration and Examination Fee – UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027

    • Applicable examination fee: ₹200.
    • Female, SC, ST and eligible PwBD candidates are exempted as specified in the notice.
    • OBC and EWS candidates are not exempted from the prescribed fee.
    • Payment is through prescribed online modes including net banking, card and UPI.
    • Fee once paid is not refundable.
